Allergy service

Complete Veterinary Care has linked up with Spectrum Laboratories to bring a cost effective and comprehensive allergy service for your practice.

In-vitro testing has been available to veterinarians since 1985 with the introduction of the K-9 RAST (Radioallergosorbant Test) program. A number of year’s later ELISA (Enzyme Linked Immunosorbant Assay) technology became available. These are essentially similar tests, using radioisotopes and enzyme colour reactions respectively as their means of qualification.

SIMPLE
One blood test does it all. More than 20 years of research and development has shown that, the more allergies tested for and then treated, the greater chance there is of success. A one off test consists of 91 UK specific allergen panel for canines and felines and a 53 panel for equines. We feel it is important to test for a full range of allergens in order to gain a more complete understanding of the animals’ immune system. The panels includes: Trees, Grasses, Weeds, Fungi, Epidermal, House Dust, Indoors, Insects, Fleas, Stash, Molasses and a free food panel.

ACCURATE
Spectrum Labs use state of the art technology and treat the sample prior to testing to reduce false positives and background cross reactions. Serum based allergy testing is now widely accepted and since Spectrum were one of the first to offer an allergy screen they have over 20 years of experience and knowledge, thus making the SPOT screen one of the most advanced in the industry and at the leading edge of its technology.
